Soap is good / 2017

Approximately 1,000 bars of authentic Aleppo soap were arranged into two beds, one carved with the outline of my own body. Viewers were invited to lie on the uncarved surface, physically engaging with the material.

The work reflects on presence and disappearance, memory and erosion. The soap fragile, fragrant, and historically loaded holds the imprint of the body, yet resists permanence.
